Understand methods and processes for systems requirements engineering, system architecture and system testing for the modern automotive industry.

The modern automotive industry requires the capability to develop and integrate software, hardware, mechanics, data, back-end systems and other domains into one system. For project managers, architects, designers, developers and testers looking for an integrated approach to these domains, this training teaches the important aspects of the system life cycle.

The training provides an overview of systems engineering implementation. We will cover frequently used system engineering methods from systems requirements engineering, system architecture and system testing. We will also explore the interaction of the technical core processes at the system and software levels.

The training references the key concepts of the international standard ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015 for system life cycle to help participants understand system life cycle processes in automotive applications. We also delve into how risks related to a product’s functional safety (e.g., ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434) can be addressed with a systems engineering approach.

Contents

This training aligns with the concepts outlined in the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Systems Engineering Handbook, Version 4. The training includes exercises that offer participants a greater understanding of relevant standards as well as practical applications.

  • Introduction to systems engineering.

Prerequisites

Experience with development projects

Examination

The training provides fundamental knowledge to help participants prepare for the multiple-choice INCOSE Associate/Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP/CSEP) exam, based on their Systems Engineering Handbook, Version 4. The exam fee is not included in the registration fee for this training.

Further information
  • INCOSE offers multiple levels of Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification to participants who pass the INCOSE Associate/Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP/CSEP) exam: Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) for new systems engineering professionals and Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) for professionals with five or more years of systems engineering experience. For more information, visit incose.org.
  • For online trainings, all materials are offered digitally. For in-person trainings, all materials are offered digitally and may be supplemented with hard copies. Copies of any relevant standards must be provided by the participant.
